We have already talked a little about how global warming is affecting the reefs, and even touched upon the debate as to whether or not global warming is a real phenomenon.

But I'd like to talk a little more about it, if any one is interested.

Do you believe in it? What do you think of the scientists who claim it is not happening? Why do you think they claim that?

And ultimately, what is going to happen to human kind in your opinion, if it really is happening?

Hey britjojo, this is an interesting thread already.

I've wondered why some scientists claim it's not happening, too. I think at a basic level they refer to cycles of climate change that will happen. I really don't know how much the recorded change in temperature of the last few years ties in with one of these cycles, though.

I'm afraid if it really starts to affect the areas where people live, there will be more tragic scenes like we saw from Hurricane Katrina.

It is interesting and I think everyone can do their own little part to help make the enviroment better.

I agree that there may very well be fluctuations of a cyclical nature. However I do not believe that we have been recording the average temperatures for long enough to know that for sure either way. What we DO know is of the increase in storms like Katrina (since big events like that always made the record somehow in a historical sense.
